Extended Open Enrollment for Sick Bank

January 26, 2017 / Phil Lesch

If you are already a member of the AAUP Donated Sick Leave Bank, this does not affect you and there is nothing for you to do. You can disregard the rest of this message.

It has come to our attention that HR did not send the e-mail invitation to sign up for the Donated Sick Leave Bank during open enrollment in October to a large population of PSU-AAUP bargaining unit members.

The Donated Sick Leave Bank Committee has, thus, decided to "extend" the open enrollment period so that members who have not yet opted into the Donated Sick Leave Bank may do so NOW. Open Enrollment to the bank closes February 10.

Download, fill out, and send to HR this form. Check the box next to "Opt In." Sign it. Send it. Please do it now.

The Donated Sick Leave Bank is provided for in the CBA Article 32 Section 2 and the July 27, 2016 MOU revising the procedure.

We believe this is a great benefit and all members should join the donated sick leave bank. Should a sick leave bank member run out of sick time, if they are a member of the donated sick leave bank they can apply and be granted 30 days of donated sick leave so they can extend the time they are in paid employment status. If the 30 days is not enough, they can apply for another 30 days.

The donated sick leave bank is open to donated sick leave bank members only. Members sign up as a member on the forms linked below, which pledge 3 hours of the members accrued sick time to the donated sick leave bank.

Should you have any questions about the donated sick leave bank, contact the Donated Sick Leave Bank Committee.
