Proposed Changes to the Hoffman and Millar Awards

September 21, 2017 / Phil Lesch

In spring 2016 PSU-AAUP learned of an intention to modify the process and criteria for the Hoffman and Millar Awards. On May 16, 2016 PSU-AAUP submitted a Demand to Bargain  over the changes in the criteria for the award. It shoudl be noted that all of the awards provided to faculty member are mandatory subjects of bargaining with PSU-AAUP as they all involve wages (honararia), hours (course releases or other benefits of award), and conditions of employment. Changes to ANY award that are provided to faculty are covered by the CBA Article 8- past practices.

At Labor Management on September 20, administration submitted a list of recommended changes they sought to make to the Hoffmann and Millar Awards.

The recommendations appear, at first glance, to be minor tweaks to the program and a codification of present practices. The proposal will be reviewed by negotiating team.
