BARGAINING

Support AAUP & Our Allies in Bargaining, Next Week

June 12, 2015 / Phil Lesch

AAUP BARGAINING on Family-Friendly Policies
Monday, June 15th
10am-4pm
Smith 236

On the agenda…

  •  Establishing a Leave Bank? We'll discuss a proposal from the Family-Friendly Task Force that would allow us to donate up to 3 hours of unused sick or vacation leave each year to a "leave bank." Participants would be eligible to receive paid leave from the bank if they have a family emergency, event or illness and do not have sufficient paid leave to cover it.
  •  Examining PSU's Budget. Around noon, Kevin Reynolds (PSU's VP of Finance and Administration) will walk us through the FY 15/16 budget and answer questions about allocations and priorities. This follows from our conversation about the need for greater transparency during bargaining this year.

Please…

  •  Join us! Even if it's only for a few minutes. Observing bargaining is a perfect way to get your grading done. You can multi-task: finish your grades, support your union and enjoy the company of friends and colleagues.
  •  Visit imagineportlandstate.com for the latest bargaining updates and the summer bargaining schedule. Updates will be posted 24 hours after each bargaining session.

SEIU RALLY
Thursday, June 18th
Noon-1pm
Park Blocks near Smith

Stand with SEIU in their contract fight. We couldn’t operate without registration staff, library workers, tech support, facilities staff and other classified employees who make up the backbone of PSU. Their union, SEIU, is in the middle of tough contract negotiations with the OUS system. They’ve been offered a 0.5% increase (a pay cut in real terms). Next Thursday's bargaining session is at PSU, and staff are rallying for better wages, benefits and dignity on the job. Wear your PSU-AAUP t-shirt to the rally in support of our classified colleagues.

We are all in this together. When one group of workers at PSU is treated poorly, all of us suffer.
