By becoming a full member, you are supporting academic freedom, tenure, shared governance, and many other rights now enjoyed at Portland State University. These practices have to be defended not just at PSU, but nationwide. AAUP works on the principle of pooled strength: The strong help defend the weak. Over the years, members have joined not just because they may need AAUP themselves but because they realize that academic freedom has to be maintained throughout the system of higher education.

Along with your membership, you are entitled to numerous benefits, such as a variety of optional insurance plans, merchant disounts, discounted child care, and much more.

We need your support! By paying full-member dues (only a few dollars extra per month):

• you are helping AAUP lobby at the state and national level to ensure that there is money available to bargain for. Full membership dues strengthen our voice in Salem and in Washington, DC
• you are helping fight attacks on tenure and academic freedom at the national level
• you can vote on contract ratification or on other important union issues
• The more support we have from full members, the stronger our position at the bargaining table!
