Academic Professional Denied Longevity increase

July 22, 2017 / Phil Lesch

An academic professional who was hired into the SEIU Bargaining unit on 1/3/2011, who became a member of the AAUP bargaining unit on or about November 1, 2015, was denied the five year longevity increase and granted the 3 year longevity increase. January 1-2, 2011 were not working days.

Another academic professional in another department who was hired on 1/2/2014, was awarded the three year longevity increase. January 1, 2014 was not a working day.

PSU-AAUP believes these are similarly situated bargaining unit members, and the member that was hire on 1/3/2011 should have been treated the same as the member that was hired 1/2/2014.

PSU-AAUP is attempting to resolve the matter through the Labor Management committee and not file a grievance. It was presented to the Labor Management Committee in June and we expect a response soon.
