Tenured faculty members in the first five years of the PTR process may get moved up in the quintiles based upon retirements and opt-outs in the previous quintiles. A number of faculty members were scheduled to participate in PTR in 2017-18 but were moved up to quintile 3 and participated in PTR in 2016-17. Those PTRs were held four (4) years from their PTR date. The PTR process requires that PTR be held five (5) years from the previous PTR or five years from the previous promotion.
The impacted faculty members were no longer in cycle. The parties reached agreement that the faculty members would be paid in 2017-18 consistent with completion of the PTR in 2016-17, and their next PTR would be six (5) years from the completion of the PTR so that they could rejoin their cycle.
