Tentative Agreement on Impacts of Implementation of PI eligibility policy in RGS (September 10, 2019)

On September 10th PSU and AAUP reached a tentative agreement on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on how to implement the new Principle Investigator (PI) Eligibility Policy in the Office of Research and Graduate Studies. The policy defines who may be assigned the duties of a PI at PSU. Certain faculty ranks are automatically eligible, while others will need to apply for an exception. PIs that are not automatically eligible for assignment as a PI will continue in this role for the duration of their current project. Some researchers who are not automatically eligible may be eligible for indefinite eligibility after review. This policy is necessary to make sure that those assigned the responsibilities of a PI are appropriately trained and have the proper relationship with PSU to ensure compliance with federal and other regulations.
