Bargaining Update

May 04, 2020 / PSU-AAUP

Your Bargaining Team is continuing the work of securing a strong and just contract. Administration requested that we take a break from the big table until May 15th so they could get their feet under them while we all transition to remote work. Bargaining has not stopped though, and a series of working groups are still hard at work drafting language on AP placement into the new IC system, language on a more robust flexible schedule article, and working through a long list of items related to the impacts of COVID-19.

Amongst some of the COVID-19 impacts we have recently achieved is extension of tenure clocks. We also negotiated an extension to the timeline of AP evaluations and language that recognized that an AP’s work may have been impacted and that the impacts should be considered during future evaluations. We also recently negotiated language recognizing that recent cuts to RGS may have impacted research on campus.

We know that many of us have been impacted in many ways and the Union is hard at work protecting our members during these tough times. We are looking forward to getting back (virtually) to the main bargaining table later this month. The main items we will be talking about will be paid caregiver and family leave, workload, and post continuous appointment review of NTTFs.
