CCC Cancels Program Reduction Efforts, but PSU’s IELP is Still in Limbo

June 10, 2021 / PSU-AAUP

We just received some baffling (but good) news: Clackamas Community College, which was also facing a program reduction process, has decided not to reduce or eliminate any programs for the next three years. The reasoning from their President, Tim Cook, cites an infusion of federal funding as a basis for this decision.

This said, we strongly urge PSU administration to follow CCC’s lead. Regardless of what happens, though, we thank you for all of your support over the course of the IELP’s Article 22 Retrenchment saga this year. To date, the IELP layoffs are still in limbo. The deadline for comments to the President’s office regarding the initial Provisional Plan is June 10th. We anticipate knowing the final outcome at the 11th hour… on or before June 14th. This has been an excruciating year for the IELP, and we sincerely appreciate your support! We will keep you posted as to the final outcome and any subsequent actions.
