New Buildings Policy Opens the Door to Racial Profiling. Your Urgent Action Needed

March 03, 2020 / PSU-AAUP

Last week we reported PSU administration has a draft revision to the campus Use of Buildings, Grounds and Services Policy that raises for us legitimate and serious concerns, because, among other things, it is a recipe for racial profiling.

We are urging members to take action immediately and follow the link below for comments to register their objections to this policy before the public comment period ends on March 9. We demand the University withdraw this policy revision, and start over to work out safeguards to make sure there is no room for racial profiling in our buildings policy.

Please take a couple of minutes to express your concern and demand the current draft of the policy be withdrawn until it is revised, by going to this public comment portal.

Profiling is morally wrong and it is also a bad public safety policy as the history of so-called “stop and frisk” policies have long demonstrated.
