Our Letter to President Percy was Effective

January 18, 2022 / PSU-AAUP

Over the winter break, PSU-AAUP sent a letter to President Percy asking for additional safety measures for faculty, staff and students. If you missed it, you can read the letter here. Our letter was successful in getting additional safety measures in place. PSU announced it will be requiring booster shots, KN95 masks can be requested by departments, there’s a bit more flexibility for faculty to go remote if needed, and the University created an option to provide free testing for faculty and staff (it’s already available to students for free at SHAC). We appreciate the University acting on our concerns. We hope that admin will also consider providing KN95 to students as well as they can be cost prohibitive and difficult to find. We are also still waiting to hear what the plan will be if the entire campus needs to pivot to remote learning due to a surge. We continue to bring these issues up during meetings with admin and the Emergency Management Team.
