From ONA and PDX JWJ Facebook event page:

Nurses, doctors, health care workers, elected leaders, local advocates and community allies are leading a rally to fight for nurse, patient and community safety Friday, Feb. 5.

We are protesting Providence management’s refusal to provide a basic COVID-19 safety agreement which would protect nurses and patients by providing timely exposure notifications, adequate personal protective equipment (PPE), access to COVID-19 testing, pandemic leave and frontline input on COVID-19 issues.

Providence has left thousands of frontline nurses and patients without critical COVID-19 safety protections in the middle of a worsening pandemic. Nurses have been asking Providence to provide basic COVID-19 safety measures since frontline nurses’ initial protections expired on May 31, 2020.

More than 8 months later, nurses are still asking for basic safety measures including adequate PPE, rapid exposure notification, access to COVID-19 testing, pandemic leave, and a voice in how Providence is managing coronavirus.
Providence’s refusal to listen to frontline nurses’ recommendations has led to deteriorating working conditions and increased risks for nurses and patients highlighted by recent workplace outbreaks at Providence facilities.

Click here to view ONA nurses’ COVID-19 Bill of Rights which includes nurses’ priorities for a comprehensive COVID-19 safety agreement. This agreement would protect nurses, their families, their patients and their communities. It would allow the more than 4,000 Oregon nurses working within the Providence system to focus on their patients during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
