A few months ago the Executive Council created a subcommittee to focus on researching consultants on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion within our union. The goal of this EDI subcommittee was to find an expert to help us institutionalize this work at all levels of our organization. The hope is that this strategic planning, along with concrete action steps, will be sustainable for AAUP even through leadership transitions. After multiple conversations and lots of research, the EC has decided to work with Yee Won Chong, an expert in providing training, coaching, and strategy development around racial and social justice. The EDI subcommittee has already begun conversations with Yee Won and the entire Executive Council will be holding longer sessions with them starting in September.
