Promoting Quality Higher Education– An Investment in Oregon’s Future

PSU Day at the Capitol April 6, 2017

March 14, 2017 / PSU-AAUP

From Portland State University:

Help Us Promote Access · Diversity · Inclusion · Equity

What is PSU Day? We take students, faculty, staff, alumni and other supporters to Salem to let our legislators know how important our university community is, and why they must keep college affordable. Together, we can show our elected representatives why funding public higher education is critical to Oregon’s future.

What is the goal? We are pushing for $100 million above the current funding level for Oregon's seven public universities. At that level, tuition increases at PSU can be kept at 5 percent or less. Without adequate state funding, many of our students would be forced to rack up a lifetime of college debt or, even worse, not enroll at all.

Why be involved in PSU Day? You will be on the front lines to fight for the future of quality education in Oregon. You will learn about the inner workings of the Oregon Legislature and help shape access to education for years to come. Plus, enjoy Voodoo donuts, a catered lunch and camaraderie.

Other fun stuff:

Hear performances by the PSU opera and choir
Get your photo taken with Victor E. Viking
Grab a PSU Green Voodoo Donut
Putt with the PSU women’s golf team
