We've had some follow-up questions about AFT Oregon's Jewish Identity Caucus being held November 29, so we would like to provide more information about the event for those interested!
This is an invitation to all AFT members (PSU-AAUP members included) who are Jewish to gather with other members who identify as Jewish, outside of our institutions and within the labor movement, virtually, on November 29, at 5pm. We will meet officially for an hour and have included an additional 30 minutes for those that wish to stay around and schmooze.
Note from the organizers: Although the timing of this may appear to be a response to recent events, please know that discussions and plans for this caucus have been in the works since summer 2023.
-Bonni Goldberg and Daniel Davis, PCCFFAP
Please note that as a Jewish caucus we do not hold any religious definition of Jewish. No one is “not Jewish enough,” based on lineage, education, observance, etc. All Jews are welcome. If you have a question or concern about your status, we hope you will reach out to discuss.
This is the first of 4 meetings we will hold roughly quarterly. Your name and contact information will not be shared either with your institution or with AFT leadership. Only the co-chairs of this caucus will have access to this confidential list.
This will be the only announcement we will make to general membership for the next year. If you can’t attend the first meeting but would like to be notified of future meetings, etc. please register so we keep you updated.
We hope you will join us at this or a future meeting. We’re happy to answer your questions. We look forward to connecting!
RSVP for the Zoom below. Even if you are unable to attend, please register for the zoom to show interest in being a part of our group.
