PSU employees became eligible for paid family and medical leave (PFML) on September 3rd. Information about the new benefit is available on the HR website, which describes the new benefit and the process for requesting a paid leave. As a result of negotiations concluded last spring, PSU-AAUP members may extend their 12-week paid leave up to 24 weeks for the same qualifying circumstance. Members’ job are protected for the duration of this supplemental “personal leave” and members may use accrued sick leave plus withdrawals from the Donated Sick Leave Bank to replace most or all of their income during the extended period of protected leave.
