Post-Continuous Appointment Review: Salary Increase and 5-Year Review Cycle Negotiated in New LOA!

March 17, 2022 / PSU-AAUP

The Bargaining Team is delighted to announce a new Letter of Agreement (LOA), currently out for a ratification vote by AAUP members, that would for the first time provide an automatic salary increase of $1,900 for non-tenure-track faculty who have undergone a successful post-continuous appointment review.

This new LOA would also provide for a transition from 3-year to 5-year PCAR review cycles, including salary increases in September 2022 for those who underwent PCARs in previous years or who will do so by the end of the current academic year.

If this LOA is approved by the membership, then its provisions will go into effect immediately. You can see a copy of it here. If you’re an eligible voter, please submit your vote by March 29 at 5:00pm.

Faculty who want to opt-out or defer their PCARs should consult Article 18 of the CBA for details. If you are within two years of retirement, you may opt-out with a letter to your Dean (and a copy to HR).

If you are eligible to defer your PCAR (one year), inform your Chair and Dean, citing either (1) personal circumstances (e.g., maternity/paternity, adoption, injury, illness) impacting your work or (2) sabbatical or other special assignments on or off campus.

If this new LOA is ratified by AAUP members and you then have questions about it, please email aaup@psuaaup.net and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
